Product details
The Keltis Cabernet Sauvignon, a gem from the smallest Slovenian wine region of Bizeljsko, is a tribute to the art of winemaking. This velvety, matured red wine reveals the winemaker's mastery in every sip. With an alcohol content of 12% and a aging potential of at least 10 to 15 years, this wine presents itself as a true treasure for connoisseurs and wine lovers.
In the glass, the Keltis Cabernet Sauvignon reveals a deep red color reminiscent of dark rubies. The nose is caressed by a bouquet of ripe, dark fruits such as blackberries and cherries, complemented by subtle notes of cedarwood and a hint of spices. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and balanced, with an elegant structure and well-integrated tannins. The aging in large wooden barrels gives it a pleasant complexity and depth without overshadowing its freshness and fruitiness. The harmony between fruit and wood is remarkable, making the Keltis Cabernet Sauvignon an exquisite example of the finesse of Slovenian wines. The finish is long and lingering, with an aftertaste that engages the senses long after the last sip. |
Recommended Enjoyment Moments with Keltis Cabernet Sauvignon |
The Keltis Cabernet Sauvignon is a versatile companion to a range of dishes. It pairs particularly well with hearty meat dishes like braised beef or lamb, where its structure and tannins complement the flavors of the meat excellently. It is also an excellent choice with aged cheese or hearty vegetarian dishes.
Served at a temperature of 16-18°C, the Keltis Cabernet Sauvignon unfolds its full spectrum of flavors. A perfect wine for special occasions or a cozy dinner with friends. It is also an excellent companion for relaxed evenings by the fireplace, where its warmth and depth shine.
The Keltis Cabernet Sauvignon should be stored in a cool, dark place, ideally in a wine cellar or a specialized wine fridge. The optimal storage temperature is between 12 and 15°C. To fully unleash its potential, it is recommended to age the wine for a few years. Before enjoying, the bottle should be opened or decanted a few hours in advance to let the wine breathe and fully reveal its flavors. |
Keltis Kelhar: Art of Winemaking Across Generations |
The history of the Keltis winery, led by the Kelhar family, is a fascinating journey through time, marked by tradition, passion, and innovation. Founded in the late 1980s by Marijan Kelhar, after taking over the responsibility for the farm and vineyards from his parents, Keltis has evolved into a boutique winemaker that bottled its first wines under this name in 1989.
The Kelhar family, deeply rooted in the wine region of Bizeljsko in Slovenia, has an impressive history dating back to 1776 when they felled 17 mighty oaks, later used to build a wine facility. This building is now an iconic symbol of the winery, representing the family's deep connection to their land. The Kelhar family has overcome challenges over the years, including the phylloxera catastrophe in 1880, and has always adapted to the changing conditions of winemaking. In 2007, they began focusing on organic production and built a new wine cellar. Today, the winery is run by Marijan's sons Luka and Miha, with Miha taking the lead in the cellar. Their philosophy is based on passion, understanding, patience, knowledge, and hard work – values that can be felt in every drop of Keltis wine. |
