Product details
The exceptional location of the Rimac vineyard, the precise biodynamic management, the triple thinning of the grapes, and the weather conditions of the 2020 vintage have led to the taste consistency of the Angel Barbera 2020. The harvest of the Barbera, which was done by hand, took place on September 22. The grapes were then sorted into 15 kg boxes. After a 15-day maceration, the wine matured 50% in new and 50% in used 225l oak barrels. The Angel Barbera 2020 contains, in the quest for perfection in taste, not only 93% of the Barbera from the Rimac vineyard location but also a dash – 7% – of Merlot from the Šmihel vineyard location. After 26 months of maturation, the Angel Barbera 2020 is bottled without filtration and without clarification. Vintages that do not meet the house standards are not bottled. In the quest for perfection, we have invested many working hours in the vineyards of the 2021 and 2022 vintages and have done our best. |
Recommended Moments of Enjoyment |
The Angel Barbera is a versatile companion to a range of dishes. It pairs excellently with meat, cheese, and vegetarian dishes. Its soft structure and velvety texture make it the ideal partner for an elegant dinner with friends. Serve this wine at a temperature of about 18 degrees Celsius to bring out its flavors. It is an excellent accompaniment to a main course. It is particularly recommended with mature cheese and savory meat as well as mushroom dishes. Store the Angel Barbera in a cooler, dark place to preserve its quality. The optimal storage temperature is between 12 and 15 degrees Celsius. Thanks to its excellent aging capability of at least 10 to 15 years, the wine develops even greater depth and complexity over time. Open the bottle about 2 - 3 hours before enjoying or decant it to let the wine breathe and to unfold its full spectrum of aromas. |
The Art of Winemaking in Harmony with Nature: The Batič Winery |
The Batič Winery, deeply rooted in the picturesque landscape of the Vipava Valley in Slovenia, stands for a winemaking that masterfully combines tradition and innovation. The Batič family, which has been engaged in viticulture for generations, is committed to producing wines of the highest quality, with each drop reflecting the love, sweat, and loyalty to the Vipava region.
The wine lines of Batič – Classic, Selection, Angel, and the visionary Marlon – express the diverse facets of the winery. The Classic line, introduced in the 1970s, marked the beginning of a new era that combined traditional Vipava Valley winemaking methods with modern techniques. The Selection wines, on the other hand, reflect the mineral character of the Eocene soil and the unique microclimate of the Vipava Valley. These wines, made from indigenous Vipava varieties, ferment in contact with the grape skins and age for two years in large oak barrels. The Angel line breaks with conventions and offers wines sourced from various, biodynamically managed vineyards. These wines, known for their elegance, stand out in blind tastings. The Marlon line, named after the Batič Brajda vineyard, is a pioneer project with resistant grape varieties grown without the use of pesticides. This line represents the winery's commitment to sustainability and innovation. The Batič Winery, dedicated to biodynamic philosophy, cultivates 45 hectares with 225,000 vines and produces about 75,000 liters of wine annually. Batič wines are not available in supermarkets but are meant for moments when one takes the time to enjoy a glass of wine in all its beauty. With a deep connection to the earth and an unrelenting pursuit of perfection, the Batič Winery sets standards in the world of wine and invites wine lovers to experience the essence of the Vipava Valley with every sip. |
