Vina Blažič: Tradition Meets Innovation in the Vineyards of Goriška Brda |
| In the heart of the picturesque hill landscape of the Goriška Brda region, where the Mediterranean climate meets the Alps, lie the carefully tended vineyards of Vina Blažič. This unique location, combined with mineral-rich soil, creates ideal conditions for viticulture and enables the winery to produce exceptional wines.
The vineyards of Vina Blažič, which are up to 50 years old, are characterized by a deep and branched root system that helps the vines withstand weather extremes. This leads to high-quality products even in more challenging vintages. The terraced vineyards are greened and are cultivated in an eco-friendly manner with a lower yield per hectare. Most of the work is done manually, in harmony with the terroir and the philosophy of the winery. The grapes are exclusively handpicked and come solely from their own vineyards, where the use of fertilizers and herbicides is avoided. Vina Blažič places great emphasis on understanding the micro-locations of each individual vineyard to find an optimal balance in terms of soil, altitude, climate, grape variety, training, protection, yield, harvest time, and vintage. The winery manages 9 hectares of vineyards, which extend to the Slovenian and Italian side of Goriška Brda. The focus is on white grape varieties, with Rebula (Ribolla Gialla) and Sauvignonasse (formerly Tokaj Friulano) being the main varieties. The vineyards in Plešivo, Medana, and Biljana are home to varieties such as Sauvignonasse, Sauvignon, Beli Pinot, Sivi Pinot, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Malvazija. Vina Blažič is a winery that combines tradition and innovation to create wines of exceptional quality and character, perfectly reflecting the terroir of the Goriška Brda region. |
