Product details

In 1988, the first Slovenian bottle of Batič came onto the market. Since then, we have been producing Batič Rosé only from high-quality Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. This is also the reason why Batič has not bottled a single bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon in red since 1987. Today, the Cabernet Sauvignon is complemented by a portion of Merlot. In the summer months, the vineyards dedicated to Rosé are relieved to the extent that only up to half a kilogram of grapes remain on the vines, produced according to the principles of biodynamic cultivation. The low hectare yield results in an increased pigment concentration in the berry skins, and the Batič Rosé is darker than most of the globally esteemed rosés.

To preserve freshness, the wine is aged in stainless steel containers. Batič Rosé ferments without the use of selective yeast strains. It is bottled at the first signs of approaching spring during the waxing moon and then consumed as a young wine. The low grape yield per hectare gives Batič Rosé an above-average longevity. Thus, the first batch of Batič Rosé is released to the market in the first spring after harvest, and the last 1000 bottles of the same rosé are available only after ten years of bottle aging. This procedure was introduced in 2015. From 2025, two rosés will be available for the first time: the 2014 and the 2015 Rosé.

Recommended Enjoyment Moments

Batič Rosé is also a versatile companion to a variety of dishes. It pairs excellently with vegetarian dishes and desserts. Its structure makes it the ideal summer wine for a gathering of friends. Being a dry rosé, you can feel a pleasant sweetness on the palate. Serve this wine at a temperature of about 10 degrees Celsius to bring out its flavors fully. It also works excellently as an aperitif. Store the wine in a cool, dark place to preserve its quality. The optimal storage temperature is between 8 and 10 degrees Celsius.

The Art of Winemaking in Harmony with Nature: Batič Winery

The Batič Winery, deeply rooted in the picturesque landscape of the Vipava Valley in Slovenia, represents winemaking that masterfully combines tradition and innovation. The Batič family, which has been involved in winemaking for generations, is dedicated to producing wines of the highest quality, with each drop reflecting the love, sweat, and loyalty to the Vipava region.

Batič's wine lines - Classic, Selection, Angel, and the forward-thinking Marlon - express the diverse facets of the winery. The Classic line, introduced in the 1970s, marked the beginning of a new era that combined traditional winemaking methods of the Vipava Valley with modern techniques. The Selection wines, on the other hand, reflect the mineral character of the Eocene soil and the unique microclimate of the Vipava Valley. These wines, made from autochthonous Vipava varieties, ferment in contact with the grape skins and age for two years in large oak barrels. The Angel line breaks with conventions, offering wines sourced from various biodynamically cultivated vineyards. These wines, standing out in blind tastings, are known for their elegance. The Marlon line, named after the Batič Brajda vineyard, is a pioneering project with resistant grape varieties grown without pesticides. This line represents the winery's commitment to sustainability and innovation.

The Batič Winery, dedicated to biodynamic philosophy, cultivates 225,000 vines on 45 hectares and produces approximately 75,000 liters of wine annually. Batič wines are not available in supermarkets but are intended for those moments when one takes the time to enjoy a glass of wine in all its beauty. With a deep connection to the earth and an unwavering pursuit of perfection, Batič Winery sets standards in the world of wine and invites wine lovers to experience the essence of the Vipava Valley in every sip.
