The Cultus PetNat Pink Fluid has a beautiful light pink color, a soft effervescence, and a well-balanced acidity. The PetNat pairs well with a wide variety of dishes! It is also suitable for non-sparkling wine drinkers, as it is completely natural and has not received any added sulfur! The production of PetNat (natural sparkling wine) is based on a single fermentation that starts directly with sweet must. The wine, already in fermentation, is bottled, and the fermentation process continues in the bottle until all the remaining sugar in the young wine is fully consumed. The result is a dry PetNat (Brut Nature). During this process, natural carbonation (carbon dioxide) is produced, creating the pressure necessary for the characteristic fizz and foam. No sulfur has been added. The result is pleasantly softly sparkling and cloudy with yeast particles in the bottle. |

The Pet Nat has hints of cherry notes, citrus fruits, and grapefruit, and is very dry in taste. It is a perfect summer drink, refreshing and ideal as an aperitif. Serve the PetNat at a temperature of about 9 - 10°C to bring out its best qualities. The sparkling wine should ideally be stored in a wine refrigerator. The optimal storage temperature is between 8 and 9°C. To distribute the fine yeast deposit well, it is necessary to slowly turn (invert) the bottle. If you prefer not to do this, store the bottle upright in the refrigerator and open it without turning. Opening the crown cap should be done very slowly. |
A historically significant small winery with ecological values: The Cultus Winery |
The organic farm of Cultus is surrounded by a stone wall of the small village of Podraga in Primorska. The village, located at the very beginning of the Vipava Valley, is a historically significant wine village mentioned by Johann Weikhard von Valvasor (a Slovenian polymath & topographer). It is difficult to determine how far back the art of winemaking on the current estate goes. Considering the earliest recorded date, its beginning can be traced back to the year 1683. Matej has been a farmer since childhood. Once a traditional mixed farm, today it is his key to producing and living with ecological wine. Starting in 2023, the vineyards are certified organic with the European organic label. This certification ensures that the grapes used in wine production are grown without the use of synthetic pesticides, mineral fertilizers, and herbicides. Biomass is used as fertilizer. The vineyards are surrounded by diverse greenery such as trees and shrubs where insects can live, breed, and feed. Additionally, there are numerous "insect hotels" in the vineyards. A small area (4 ha) of family-owned vineyards is cultivated. The organic vineyards are an integral part of the dynamic landscape and are located on various plots around the village. The vineyards are planted with the white, indigenous varieties Zelen and Pinela. Additionally, there are Istrian Malvasia, Italian Riesling (Welschriesling), and the red varieties Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Syrah. The level of mechanization is low – the majority of work in the vineyards is done manually, as in the past. |
