Product details

The Keltis Chardonnay, a masterpiece from the heart of Slovenia, embodies a rare harmony of tradition and innovation. With an alcohol content of 13% and an impressive aging potential of 10 to 15 years, this wine unfolds a fascinating complexity. Its orange color is a visual promise of an unforgettable tasting experience.

On the nose, the Keltis Chardonnay reveals a palette of aromas ranging from ripe yellow fruits to subtle wood notes. On the palate, it is multi-layered and well-balanced. The texture is rich and almost velvety, with a perfect balance between fruitiness and the spiciness derived from aging in large wooden barrels. The maceration time of 1 to 2 weeks adds extra depth and complexity to it. This wine is not only a delight for the palate but also a statement for sustainable winemaking, as it is produced vegan. Its structure and elegance make it an ideal companion for discerning wine lovers who value authenticity and artisanal finesse.

Recommended Enjoyment Moments with Keltis Chardonnay

The Keltis Chardonnay is a versatile companion for special occasions. It pairs wonderfully with fish dishes, whether it's a delicate oven-baked salmon or a fine trout pan-fried in butter. It also reveals its full splendor with meat dishes, such as a perfectly pink-roasted pork tenderloin or a juicy chicken breast fillet. Its structure and complexity also make it an ideal partner for a selection of cheeses, from mild brie to flavorful cheddar. Served at a temperature of 10-12°C, the Keltis Chardonnay unveils its full range of aromas. It is recommended to use a wine glass with a wider opening to fully bring out the flavors.

The Keltis Chardonnay should be stored in a cool, dark place, ideally in a wine cellar or a dedicated wine fridge. The optimal storage temperature is between 12 and 14°C. Thanks to its excellent aging potential, this wine can be stored for years, gaining complexity and depth over time. It is recommended to open the bottle a few hours before consumption to allow the wine to breathe and fully unfold its flavor profile.

Keltis Kelhar: Winemaking Art Over Generations

The history of the Keltis estate, led by the Kelhar family, is a fascinating journey through time, characterized by tradition, passion, and innovation. Founded in the late 1980s by Marijan Kelhar after taking over the responsibility for the farm and vineyards from his parents, Keltis has evolved into a boutique winemaker that bottled its first wines under this name in 1989.

The Kelhar family, deeply rooted in the wine region of Bizeljsko in Slovenia, has an impressive history dating back to 1776 when they felled 17 mighty oaks, later used to construct a wine building. This building is now an iconic symbol of the estate, representing the family's deep connection to their land. The Kelhar family has overcome challenges over the years, such as the phylloxera outbreak in 1880, and has consistently adapted to changing conditions in winemaking. In 2007, they began focusing on organic production and built a new wine cellar. Today, the estate is run by Marijan's sons Luka and Miha, with Miha taking the lead in the cellar. Their philosophy is based on passion, understanding, patience, knowledge, and hard work – values that can be felt in every drop of Keltis wine.
