Product details
The Schmelzer Weißburgunder is a true delight for wine enthusiasts. With its 3-week maceration period and 2-year aging in large wooden barrels, this wine develops an extraordinary depth and complexity. Its characteristic, slightly orange hue reflects the careful processing and natural production without the addition of sulfur. On the palate, it reveals a harmonious balance between fruitiness and a subtle, spicy note, culminating in a long-lasting finish. Its distinctive structure and full body make it an unforgettable experience. |
Recommended Enjoyment Moments with Schmelzer Weißburgunder |
This Weißburgunder is the perfect companion to Asian and flavor-intensive dishes. Its versatility pairs excellently with spicy curries, sushi, or even strong cheeses. Serve it slightly chilled at about 10-12°C to fully unfold its aromas. Ideal for special occasions or as an elegant accompaniment to an exquisite dinner. The Schmelzer Weißburgunder demonstrates an impressive aging potential of at least 10 to 15 years. Store the bottle in a cool, dark place to preserve the wine's quality. Due to its natural production and bottling without filtration, it is recommended to decant the wine before enjoying it, to fully develop its aroma. |
Georg Schmelzer: Master of Biodynamics and Connection with Nature |
Georg Schmelzer, recognized as Austria's expert in biodynamic viticulture, represents the fourth generation in a family dedicated to winemaking, adhering to the principles of biodynamic agriculture according to Rudolf Steiner. His approach surpasses the Demeter classification by not only avoiding the use of pesticides and herbicides but also promoting healthy soil in harmony with nature.
Georg Schmelzer is known for respecting and preserving nature. He uses innovative methods such as the use of crystals and mountain quartz as well as various plant infusions to promote the health of his vines. The flowers among the vines attract bees, which help with pollination, contributing to a vibrant ecosystem. At his vineyard near Lake Neusiedl, Georg focuses on four main grape varieties: Welschriesling and Weißburgunder for white wines, and Zweigelt and Cabernet Sauvignon for red wines. He experiments with amphorae, ages red wine in barrels, and applies malolactic fermentation. His wines are produced without fining and filtration, and in most cases, he refrains from adding sulfites. Georg's wines are an expression of his philosophy and deep respect for nature. They reflect the authenticity and terroir of his surroundings and offer an unparalleled taste experience. |
